FDL Woman Featured In Billboard Urging Voters To Become A Cancer Voter

A Fond du Lac woman whose son survived cancer is urging voters to learn which candidates are supporting funding for cancer research. Kay Lock is featured on a billboard near a Kaukauna exit on I-41. Her son Ian suffered a leg injury when he was playing football as a sophomore at Fond du Lac High School. They found out it was cancer. Ian went through 17 chemo therapy treatments and 8 surgeries, but he is fine today. For Kay it’s difficult even to talk about being featured on a billboard given what the family went through. She says it wasn’t easy agreeing to do the billboard, but she knows how important it is to back funding for cancer research. Now she is the lead Wisconsin volunteer for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. The sign she’s featured on urges people to go to cancervotes.org to find out what others think about increasing funding for cancer research and where the candidates stand. As for Ian he is a senior at Macalester College in Minnesota where he is the captain of the swim team. He is majoring in biology and economics, but he is also involved in cancer research.
