Fink Retires as FDL County Sheriff

Fond du Lac County Sheriff Mick Fink took the ceremonial Ramp Walk this afternoon as his 38-year career serving the citizens of Fond du Lac County came to an end. Fink retired after twelve years as the County Sheriff, but his time with the Sheriff’s Office also included roles as Chief Deputy, detective, time as a patrol officer and in the jail. Fink walked the ramp, shook hands with colleagues and hugged family members – later fighting back tears while saying “I cant tell you what all you folks mean to me and I really appreciate you all coming.” Fink joked about the road block that was set up on Western Avenue in front of the Sheriff’s Office – which included county snowplows and squad cars. “Ryan, I think you’re going to get a lot of complaints” Fink said to new Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt as the crowed laughed, “but you guys can deal with that while I’m gone.” Judge Peter Grimm swore in Waldschmidt as Sheriff and Waldschmidt then thanked Fink for his service to the county and re-introduced him to the crowd as “Citizen” Mick Fink.
