Fire At Mercury Marine Restricted To Oven
Fond du Lac firefighters responded last night for a report of a fire Mercury Marine’s Plant 15. When crews arrived they could see light smoke coming from the roof area. They learned the building’s sprinkler system had extinguished the blaze, which was in an oven by the paint line area. Mercury Marine maintenance personnel assisted in shutting down the sprinkler system. J. F. Ahern was on scene working with Mercury personnel to restore the sprinkler system. The cause of the fire was a build up of material in the painting process and the machinery involved. The time of the fire call was 7:23 a.m.
