Fire Damages Home On Ledgeview Avenue In FDL

Fire damaged a home at 386 Ledgeview Avenue Saturday morning. Fond du Lac Fire Chief Peter O’Leary says they got a call just before 5 a.m. about a report of smoke in the area of Johnson Street and Coffman Avenue. He says while they were investigating that they got another call pinpointing the source of the smoke. Someone delivering newspapers reported smoke coming from the home. O’Leary says the blaze started in the basement. He says it burned up through the first floor and because of the extensive fire in the floor firefighters had to pull out. Chief O’Leary says they were able to access the basement through the garage to put out the fire.  A neighbor, Scott Louks, says the man living in the home drives truck at night and wasn’t there when the blaze began. He says they saw his car wasn’t there so they knew he was safe. He says the man is a dear friend and they were in touch with him so he knew what was going on. He says thank goodness no one was home. No injuries were reported. Louks says the fire makes you appreciate City services and the true professionalism of the firefighters. (Photo above from Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue)
