Fire Prevention Week October 5th Through 11th In FDL

Fond du Lac Fire Chief Peter O’Leary and Division Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haase were presented with a proclamation at the City Council meeting this week proclaiming October 5th through the 11th National Fire Prevention Week in the City. City Council President Sam Meyer read the proclamation noting home fires killed more than 2,300 people in the United States in 2012. Fire departments also responded to 365,000 home fires that year. The theme for Fire Prevention Week is “Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Test Yours Every Month!” Haase says on Thursday, October 9th they will have an open house at the Fire Station on South Main Street as part of the week’s activities.
