Fireworks Still a Concern in Summer Months

The Fourth of July has come and gone, but there are still fireworks being sold and launched around the area. Division Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haase tells us he has seen plenty of illegal fireworks going off in the city over the past few weeks.

Haase says “one of these days it’s going to happen, and then they’re going to have all kinds of excuses – but it’s not like we haven’t told them year after year after year not to do it. I’m sure there’s still fireworks that’ll be going on throughout the summer with all these different parties and this and that.”

Haase adds that checks at local shops show they did abide by the rules for selling legal fireworks this year. Anything that leaves the ground or explodes is illegal to light off in the city.
