Five Alarm Fire In Downtown Plymouth

Plymouth Police and Fire Department officials are releasing more details about a fire at a two-story, 6-unit apartment building in downtown Plymouth early Thursday morning. A body was discovered after the blaze. That body still has to be identified, but officials were also looking for 46-year-old Tammy Aschenbach a resident of the building who was reported missing. The fire at 408 East Mill Street was reported just before 1 a.m.  Two residents were taken to a hospital for minor smoke inhalation and a firefighter suffered a back injury. The Red Cross is assisting displaced tenants. Approximately 100 firefighters from 21 fire departments assisted in battling the blaze. (Plymouth Fire and Rescue photo)

Police in Plymouth say a body was found following a fire at a 3-story apartment building in downtown Plymouth Thursday morning. A woman had been reported missing. She may have returned to the building to make sure her children escaped. Remains have yet to be identified. Two people were taken to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. In addition a firefighter injured his back after slipping on wet pavement. Approximately 100 firefighters from 22 fire departments battled the blaze. Five fire engines from Fond du Lac County were among them. The fire at 408 East Mill Street broke out around 1 a.m.

Firefighters from throughout the area battled a blaze at a three-story apartment building in downtown Plymouth Thursday morning. The fire at 408 East Mill Street was reported just before 1 a.m. Authorities say two people were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation treatment and a firefighter was injured after slipping on wet pavement and injuring his back. A strike team consisting of 5 fire engines from throughout Fond du Lac County gathered in St. Cloud before heading to the fire to provide mutual aid. A fire engine from Fond du Lac was among them.
