Flu Mist Is Ineffective Against The Flu

Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says the flu mist or nasal spray option they have been using for influenza vaccinations has proven to be ineffective. She says it was effective before 2013. She says the CDC is recommending not using the nasal spray for the upcoming season. She says it’s up to the individual health care provider, but the health department, Agnesian HealthCare, and Aurora Health Care have decided not to use the nasal spray during the next flu season. She says that means kids participating in the health department’s school-based clinics in October will be getting flu shots. She says they vaccinate about 5,500 children each fall.
