Flu Peaking In State

More than 200 flu cases have been reported in the Fond du Lac County area this flu season. Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says more than 5 times that number have been tested for the flu. She says a little over 1,100 people have been tested since the beginning of the season and around 215 tested positive for Influenza A or Influenza B. State Health officials say there are 936 confirmed flu cases in the state compared to 176 cases at this time last year. Mueller says last year’s flu season started later and ended later, which could account for the discrepancy in numbers. She says 23 people have been hospitalized in Fond du Lac County since the beginning of the flu season. She says it is not too late to get a flu shot. She says they have some vaccine at the County Health Department, health care providers, and a number of other places carry the vaccine.
