Fond du Lac County Introduces “Smart 9-1-1” Technology

Fond du Lac County is the first county in Wisconsin to incorporate a new 9-1-1 service called Smart911. This feature allows individuals to create a Safety Profile for their household. This profile includes any information they want 9-1-1 and first responders to have in the event of an emergency. Examples of information that could be given include a home address, pets in the home, vehicle details in the event of an accident, and even a list of emergency contacts. When an individual makes an emergency call, their Safety Profile is automatically displayed to the 9-1-1 call taker, allowing them to send the right responders to the right location with the right information. If privacy is a concern, Smart911 keeps all information private and is only used for emergency responses and only made available to the 9-1-1 system in the event of an emergency call.

To create your Safety Profile go to www.smart911.com and follow the instructions provided. Individuals are also encouraged to download the Smart911 app which will provide greater access to the lifesaving benefits of Smart911 and location-based alerts. The app is available for download on the Apple Store or Google Play.
