Fond du Lac Schools Receive Physical Education Grant

The Fond du Lac School District has received a $1.2 million grant to use over the next three years to enhance nutrition and wellness opportunities and efforts in the district. The 2016 Carol M. White Physical Education Program Grant, or “PEP” grant is awarded to just 16 districts around the country. District Superintendent Jim Sebert says Fond du Lac High School Athletic Director Dave Michalkiewicz, along with a group of phy-ed teachers from around the district worked with District Health and Safety Coordinator Marian Sheridan and a grant writer from CESA-6 to apply for the grant. Their application focused on using resources to enhance nutrition and wellness. Sebert says that when students practice proper nutrition and proper exercise habits, their performance in the classroom will go up. The Sheboygan Area School District was also a PEP grant recipient.
