Fondy Man Who Hit Pedestrian Waives Prelim

The 47-year-old Fond du Lac man suspected of driving off Winnebago Drive and critically injuring a 44-year-old Fond du Lac woman he hit with his vehicle waived his preliminary hearing. Aarron Schmitz was in Fond du Lac County Court for a hearing Friday afternoon. Schmitz is facing 2nd degree reckless injury, injury by use of a motor vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance and two misdemeanor bail charges for the May 14th accident that injured Traci Luther. Luther was out walking went Schmitz went off the roadway and hit her. He later told Sheriff’s Deputies he had taken Albuterol and Dayquill for pneumonia, but had also smoke three cigar-sized marijuana cigarettes and drank a liter of Kessler’s Whiskey the night before. He told investigators he was on his way home from his roofing job when he fell asleep at the wheel.
