Former Fondy Resident Survives Hurricane Irma

A former Fond du Lac resident hunkered down and road out Hurricane Irma in Florida. It has been downgraded to a tropical storm, but winds were about 85 miles an hour when Marc and Harriet Manis were sleeping as the storm passed over their heads in Winter Springs, Florida which is northeast of Orlando. Marc says a tree had fallen on his garage and the roof was damaged, but his most-prized possession was not injured-that being his wife. They have no kids, just a collection of stuffed animals. He says he appreciates his life every day. Marc graduated from Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac in 1973. He retired in 2001 after suffering a stroke. He enjoys being a Ham radio operator and did chat with other Ham operators about the Hurricane. (Fox News photo)
