Former NFDL Fire Chief Extradited Back To Pennsylvania

North Fond du Lac’s former fire Chief is back in Bradford, Pennsylvania where he will face theft charges for allegedly stealing money an elderly aunt entrusted him with. Fond du Lac County Chief Deputy Mark Strand says Pennsylvania authorities picked up Richard Zmuda at the County Jail Sunday. Zmuda is suspected of stealing nearly $48,000 from an elderly aunt who entrusted him with money from an insurance policy. He resigned from his position as village fire chief in the wake of being taken into custody last week. Monday the North Fond du Lac Police and Fire Commission unanimously accepted his resignation.  Zmuda was hired by the village last month. He spent 15 years with the Bradford, Pennsylvania Fire Department before that.
