Former Ripon College Official Sentenced For Embezzlement

The former Ripon College official accused of embezzling nearly $429,000 from the college to buy gifts for family, friends and himself has been sentenced to six years in prison. Fond du Lac County Judge Robert Wirtz also sentenced 55-year-old Ronald Haefner of Mequon to two years of extended supervision and three years of probation. Last December Haefner pled guilty to 10 counts of theft and fraud. Another 54 charges were read into the record and dismissed. He worked at Ripon College as the Director of Information Technology when he allegedly used a college credit card to buy things like computers, iPods and plane tickets. The thefts occurred from June of 2009 to November of 2013. He was employed by the college from 1999 until he was fired in November of 2013.
