Former UW FDL Dean Named President Of University Of Maine School

It should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with the job John Short did at the UW-Fond du Lac that he has a brand new opportunity in the State of Maine. Thursday Short was named the new president of the University of Maine at Fort Kent. Short was one of the deans who lost their positions when the University of Wisconsin restructured leadership for its 13 two-year schools. Fond du Lac County Executive Al Buechel says Short did a great job for both the UW-Fond du Lac and community. Buechel says Short is leaving a gigantic void in the community. Short served on several commitees during his time in Fond du Lac that will lead to improvements. Buechel notes his service on the Lake Winnebago and Lakeside Park Exploratory Committees in particular. Buechel says the leadership restructuring in the UW System means his own interactions with the regional leader for the UW will go way down. He says it’s fortunate a couple of UW-Fond du Lac officials do have leadership roles under the new system. Bethany Rusch is the associate dean and Laurie Krasin will continue doing public relations and more. Short will begin his new role at the University of Maine Fort Kent April 1st.
