Freezing Water Service In FDL A Big Problem This Winter

Fond du Lac Public Works Director Jordan Skiff says it’s been a difficult winter for the City’s water service, which led to a request asking resident to run tap water from a faucet for 5 minutes, 3 times a day. He says the City has had 25 to 30 water main breaks and about three dozen frozen services reported. He says the frost is much deeper than usual this winter affecting water services and water mains that might be more susceptible to freezing and breaking. More than 300 homes got letters asking home owners to run a faucet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until further notice. He says their water bills will be adjusted accordingly and it won’t cost them additional money. He says for others being asked to run water for 5 minutes at a time, 3 times a day that costs a mere matter of pennies.
