Friends Give Nearly Million Gift To Horicon Marsh Explorium Project

One of the highlights of the Natural Resources Board’s meeting this week at the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center was the presentation of gift totaling nearly $1 million for the Center’s new Explorium. DNR Wildlife Educator Liz Herzmann says the gift included $555,000 in cash and interpretive displays value at $428,000. The gift came from the Friends of the Center. She says the friends spearheaded a capital campaign for the $3.7 million project. The state also kicked in funding for the project. Herzmann says the Friends group has a strong membership that has also contributed thousands of volunteer hours to the project and efforts at the center. The grand opening for the Explorium is Saturday, August 22nd from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will include a number of activities and displays including an airboat simulator.
