Funnel Clouds Reported as Severe Storms Move Through FDL Area Wednesday Night

Thunderstorms rumbled through the area Wednesday night, bringing heavy rain, some hail and strong winds as a cold front pushed through Wisconsin.

In Fond du Lac County, the Sheriff’s Office had two reports of funnel clouds last night. The first report came in the area of Tower Road and Golf Course Drive east of the City of Fond du Lac around 8:26 pm – a funnel cloud with rotation was spotted there, prompting a brief tornado warning for the east-central portion of the county. That warning was eventually cancelled as the storm moved into Sheboygan County. A second funnel cloud was reported in the Brandon area just after 8:30 – but no warning was issued as a result of that report. Trees and power lines were also reported down in the Brandon and Ripon areas last night.

In Green Lake County, the Sheriff’s Department reported tree and structure damage in the Berlin area after northern portions of the county experienced straight line winds, heavy rain and hail. Around 2,500 residents in the area were without power in that area last night – and emergency management crews will be surveying damage today.

In Winnebago County, a 71 mile-per-hour wind gust was reported in Oshkosh – while in Sheboygan County, two 50-mile-per-hour gusts were reported, one in Sheboygan Falls and another in Sheboygan.
