Gas Leak In FDL

About a dozen homes were evacuated when a contractor working in the area of Tompkins Street and Hickory Street in Fond du Lac hit a 3 to 4 inch natural gas main late Monday morning. Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue Division Chief Troy Haase says levels were high enough to have them evacuate the homes and Milk Specialties on Tompkins Street. He says they also shut down electricity to six homes. No one was hurt during the incident. The gas leak was reported shortly before 11:30 a.m.  Thirteen milk trucks were parked at Milk Specialties waiting to unload while the leak was being repaired. Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue photo.
