The national average price for a gallon of gas is slightly higher as we come off the Fourth of July holiday. As of Sunday night, Triple-A reported the U.S. average to be at $2.75 a gallon, five cents higher than a week ago. Seven states now sport an average price at the pump of greater than three dollars, with California remaining the highest at $3.76. Our neighbors to the south in Illinois also just topped three bucks a gallon, with their average sitting at $3.02. The cheapest gas in the nation can be found in Mississippi, where drivers are seeing an average cost of $2.35 per gallon.

In Wisconsin, our statewide average price is $2.69, with drivers in Outagamie County paying the lowest at $2.59. Drivers in Price County saw the highest cost at the pump at $2.83.
