Gerald Turner Probable Cause Hearing Postponed

The probable cause hearing for Gerald Turner scheduled in Fond du Lac County Court Friday morning was postponed. Judge Robert Wirtz agreed with a motion from Turner’s lawyer that the case should be moved to Dane County. The state Attorney General’s Office will be appealing that ruling. The state is trying to have Turner declared a sexually violent person, but has to establish probable cause to have that happen. Since his release from the Racine Correctional Institution on February 1st Turner has been living in a supervised facility in Juneau County. Turner was convicted of killing 9-year-old Lisa Marie French in Fond du Lac on Halloween of 1973.   He was sentenced to 38 years in prison, but only served 23 years. He was released from prison in 1998, but his parole was revoked in 2003 and he was sent back to prison. Turner was released from prison again at the beginning of February.
