Gov. Evers Announces Public-Private Partnership to Increase Lab Testing for COVID-19

Governor Tony Evers announced Monday a new public-private
partnership to increase the capacity for lab testing for COVID-19 in Wisconsin.

The partnership includes lab support from Exact Sciences,
Marshfield Clinic Health System, Promega and UW Health. These organizations,
along with the Wisconsin Clinical Lab Network – led by the Wisconsin State Lab
of Hygiene and Milwaukee Public Health Lab – will share knowledge, resources
and technology to help increase the capacity for testing in the state.

A news release says the Clinical Lab Network have been averaging
completion of 1,500 to 2,000 tests for COVID-19 per day, and its expected the
new partnership will initially double that capacity, and continue to expand
capacity as additional platforms and supplies become available.

Wisconsin residents who need a test for COVID-19 are still
required to receive and order from a doctor. The labs in the partnerships are not
testing sites.
