Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warning Residents Of Theft/Scams

You’d like to think that trying times brings out the best in people. And, in most cases, it does. Just not all the time. The Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents that their office has received numerous reports of a variety of scams related to COVID-19. And their advice is simple.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Don’t buy gift cards, don’t wire money, don’t buy test kits, and do not give out any personal information. The Sheriff’s Office is also asking that residents lock up vehicles, and keep an eye out for any suspicious activity, and they’ve seen a spike in theft from vehicles as well as increased suspicious activity around residences.

Criminals appear to be taking advantage of the fear and uncertainty, and the Sheriff’s Office is hoping that by getting the word out, it will keep you from being an easy target. Call 9-1-1 for emergencies, and dial 920-294-4000 for any non-emergency.
