Grothman Introduces Pell Grant Modernization Act

Congressman Glenn Grothman recently introduced the Pell Grant Modernization Act, which would increase the definition of “full-time” Pell Grant eligibility from 12 credits per semester to 15. It would also reduce the number of semesters a student is eligible for the grants from 12 semesters to 10. Grothman also feels students should be able to refinance student loans. He says students coming from a middle class background should be able to pay their own way and feels Pell grants are for people from poor families. Grothman says people shouldn’t be saddled with so much debt when they graduate from college, but also shouldn’t take as much time to graduate.
