Ground Broken For Travel Center In Waupun

Ground was broken in Waupun Thursday for a new travel plaza. The City created a TIF district along Highway 151 to help pay for infrastructure improvements. The travel plaza will sit on 10 of those 43 acres near the Highway 26 Interchange. Waupun Schools Superintendent Tonya Gubin says City Administrator Kathy Schlieve has done a great job of recruiting new business into the community. She says that is one area of the City that is not developed and she can see that whole area being used. Eden Meats and Catering will be moving their business onto the land. Gubin says the school district is familiar with Eden Meats. She says they use Eden Meats quite a bit through their FFA chapter for catering. She says they are really happy to have them as part of the City. The space will be called Heritage Plaza and Wild Goose Cafe. There will be a restaurant and catering operation on one side and a convenience store serving truck friendly amenities on the other. Infrastructure and roads for the TIF district should be completed by November depending on the weather.
