Gun Deer Season Starts Saturday

The Chief Conservation Warden for the Wisconsin DNR has some advice for deer hunters who will be participating in the nine-day gun deer hunt. Todd Schaller says to “Plan your hunt, and hunt your plan.” Beyond that he says there are some changes. He says they have a new license system, have eliminated the need for wearing back tags, and they have new carcass tags too. He recommends reading the deer hunting pamphlet to become familiar with the changes. Schaller says if you haven’t bought a license yet, avoid the last minute rush. He says the Friday before the season starts is usually their highest sale day. Up to 650,000 hunters will be participating in the hunt this season.
