Habitat Donates Bikes To Big Brothers Big Sisters

With the holidays around the corner, the spirit of giving is better than ever!

What better gift for a child then the gift of a bike!  Habitat for Humanity of Fond du Lac County recently teamed up with Attitude Sports and donated 5 bikes to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County.

“Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County is a wonderful community organization and a great community partner, said Paul Osterholm, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity of Fond du Lac County.  Thanks to Dave and his team at Attitude Sports for tuning up the bikes, getting them ready to ride and donating a gently used bike of his own.  This is another opportunity for Habitat for Humanity and The ReStore to BUILD community without a hammer.”

For children living at or below poverty level, the gift of a bike is huge!  Most children in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program do not have a bike of their own.  “What a great way to make a child’s day!”  Said Tammy Young, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County.  ‘Big Brothers Big Sisters is very thankful to have partners like Habitat for Humanity and Attitude Sports.  Their donation put a smile on the face of several ‘Littles’ in our program.  They have truly touched the life of a child.”

Incorporated in 1967, Big Brothers Big Sisters assists children with social, emotional and character development through one-to-one mentoring relationships with caring adults.  The agency matches children with Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Big Couples, or Big Families in a community or school based program.  Children aged 6 through 13 can enroll in the program through parent or guardian referral.  Volunteers need to be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license.  For more information about the program or to volunteer, call 920-922-8200 or visit www.bbbsfdl.org.

Big Brothers Big Sisters and Habitat for Humanity are both United Way agencies serving all of Fond du Lac County.
