High Speed Chase

Fond du Lac County authorities say a 16-year-old boy who led Sheriff’s deputies on a high speed chase through the County early Wednesday morning was taken into custody in Calumet County. Speeds reached 105 miles per hour during a pursuit on Highway 151. Eventually the suspect vehicle entered Calumet County and left the road on Highway 55. Two girls were taken into custody, but the boy fled on foot. He was captured about 8:30 a.m. All three are runaways from the Menasha area. The boy was taken to the Fond du Lac County Jail. The pursuit covered 27.5 miles. No property was damaged and no one was injured during the chase.

On Wednesday May 18, 2016, at approximately 12:15 am, a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a westbound vehicle for a speed violation on STH 23 near CTH UU in the Township of Empire, Fond du Lac County. The vehicle did not stop or obey the deputies signal to stop. The vehicle continued westbound on STH 23 and then turned northbound onto USH 151 at STH 23. The deputy did continue to pursue the vehicle with emergency lights and siren activated. While traveling northbound on USH 151 speeds of the pursuit reached 105 MPH. The pursuit then entered Calumet County.   The suspect vehicle continued northbound on USH 151 into Calumet County and then proceeded northbound on USH 55 in Calumet County.

At this time the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was gathering information as to possible occupants and learned that possibly juveniles were involved and or in the vehicle. It was at this time that deputies of the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s office reduced their speeds and backed off from the suspect vehicle. Ultimately the vehicle did leave the roadway on USH 55 south of Faro Springs Rd in Calumet County. The occupants did exit the vehicle. Two female juveniles, who were reported runaway’s from the Menasha area, were apprehended and later turned over to Menasha Police Department.  A16 year old male juvenile runaway, also from the Menasha area, who is believed to be the driver, fled the scene on foot. He is approximately 5’09” 170 pounds with dark brown hair. It is buzzed on the sides and longer, possibly curly in front. He was last seen wearing black shoes, blue jeans, and a white t-shirt and camouflage sweatshirt.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s was assisted by the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office, Menasha Police Department, and the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office K-9 team.

The incident remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office. The length of the pursuit was 27.5 miles. No property was damaged and no one was injured.
