High-Speed Chases Results In An Arrest, Damaged Vehicles

It seems to be as common in the county as mosquito bites in summer. The high speed pursuit. And the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was involved in another one Monday night. The pursuit began on Interstate 41 near Highway 151. just after 10:30 p.m. A Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for an excessive speed violation, with the operator failing to stop for the lights and siren and exited onto Highway 151 travelling northbound, at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle ended up on Hwy. 23, headed east, where deputies made more attempts to stop the vehicle, prompting the suspect to continue driving within the limits of the city, but driving in the wrong lane. The suspect then made an attempt to elude deputies, while also throwing a backpack out of the vehicle. Deputies were able to locate the backpack a short time later. The vehicle jumped the curb and continued west on Johnson St., traveling at a high rate of speed.

City of Fond du Lac Police Officers joined the pursuit and set up tire deflation devices, which assisted in stopping the pursuit. Taken into custody was a 24 year old Milwaukee man, being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on charges of Fleeing/Eluding an Officer, First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, multiple drug related charges and issued multiple traffic citations.
