Highway 23 Expansion Plans Public Hearing

A public hearing to address the plans for the Highway 23 expansion project is being held tonight (Tuesday). The DOT hearing is required for the federal government to give final approval for the construction. At the hearing, the results of an updated Environmental Impact Statement will be shared and public input will be accepted. The expansion was suspended just before work began in 2015 – after objections from an environmental group called 1000 Friends of Wisconsin. A new analysis shows a four-lane expansion is needed in order to improve safety and efficiency on the road. The hearing runs from 6:00pm-8:00pm tonight at UW-Fond du Lac, with a DOT presentation set for 6:30pm.
