Home For Heroes Program

Fond du Lac County Veterans Service Officer Rick Patton says there is a home buying and selling program out there that helps veterans and other everyday heroes save on costs. The Homes for Heroes program was established shortly after 9/11. He says it is a way of giving back and saying “Thank You” to our nation’s heroes. He says firefighters, law enforcement, health care workers, EMS, and teachers are eligible, but not all lenders are participants. It provides significant money when buying, selling or refinancing a home. He says it can also reduce fees. He says that can include saving money on closing costs, discounted lender fees, and discounted home inspection fees. He says you do have to shop around to see which lenders are participating and while there are no local senders there are 2 or 3 that serve the area.
