Hometown Hero Award

Madison…State Representative Joan Ballweg (R-Markesan) on behalf of the Wisconsin State Assembly recognized Tiffany Thoma, the Environmental Team Leader at Badger Mining Corporation, for her work with the company’s Special Hunts. Badger Mining Corporation is a company sponsor of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ annual deer gun hunt for people with disabilities, called Special Hunts.

“Tiffany has been a part of Special Hunts since its beginning, 16 years ago,” said Ballweg. “She has helped develop and expand this program from its original site to four sites in four counties.”

Badger Mining Corporation’s Special Hunt has helped 93 people experience deer gun hunting since 2001. This year, as a result of Thoma’s dedication to this program there will be 17 hunters participating, 13 of which are new.

The Assembly Hometown Heroes program seeks to identify and recognize individuals from around the state who give of themselves to make a difference in our communities and in the lives of those around them. Thoma and five of her colleagues were recognized on the Assembly floor on November 2nd.
