House Fire On East Bank Street
(9:00 a.m.)-Fire destroyed a home in
the 200 block of
(7:15 a.m.)-Fond du Lac firefighters have put out a house fire in the 200 block of East Bank Street. They are now preparing to investigate the cause of the fire. Division Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haase says no one was injured during the blaze. The man living in the home was awakened by a smoke detector going off. He says a few residents living in neighboring homes were evacuated as a precaution, but have been allowed to return to their homes. Haase says they got help from eight other departments during the fire, some of them helping manning a fire station for other calls. The fire call came in just before 2 a.m. Portions of North Park and East Bank were closed to traffic during the fire.
(5:10 a.m.)-Efforts continue on this bitterly cold morning to put out a house fire in the 200 block of East Bank Street in Fond du Lac. Division Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haase says part of the home collapsed in so they are fighting the fire from the outside in. He says the roof and front porch both collapsed due to the fire. Altogether 8 other departments have been helping either at the scene or manning a fire station in the City for other calls. The Red Cross was called in to help the man who was living in the home and to provide food and drink to weary firefighters at the scene. The time of the fire call was 1:53 a.m.
(3:48 a.m)-Fond du Lac firefighters were called to the scene of house fire in the 200 block of East Bank Street this morning. Division Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haase says the occupant of the home was able to get safely out. He says when they arrived the residence was already pretty well ablaze. He says the fire got up into the attic and they had to fight the fire from the outside in.No injuries were reported. The Fond du Lac Fire Department is getting mutual aid from multiple fire departments. The time of the fire call was 1:53 a.m. Haase says damage to the home is extensive. He says the cause of the fire is unknown, but they hope to make that determination when they have a chance to investigate. Fond du Lac Fire Department photos.
