Humane Society to Build New Shelter

The Fond du Lac Humane Society has surpassed its $600,000 fundraising goal to build a new shelter.

Shelter Manager Renee Webb says the current building is coming down to make way for a brand new facility, because “there are a lot of new codes and requirements for shelter facilities, and what we found out in the last year or so is that  attempting to renovate the building we’re currently in would be more expensive than building all brand new. “

Webb says they hope to break ground in the next couple weeks and aim to open the new facility by the end of the year. The Humane Society is still accepting donations from anyone who wants to help.
