Hurricane Aid Was Sufficient

Congressman Glenn Grothman feels the aid provided for hurricane victims in Puerto Rico was sufficient. Grothman supported President Trump’s requests a couple of times, but voted against one provision he felt was unnecessary. He says one provision would have lifted the cap on income taxes for those who suffered casualty losses in Texas and Florida from Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. The cap is currently at losses over 10 percent of income. The change for those living in the southern United State amounts to $4 billion, which Grothman voted against. Grothman says businesses and states impacted by those hurricanes have to handle some of the losses themselves and to a degree work their way out of the problem.
