Hwy 151 And County V Project Starts Next Monday

As part of his efforts to create jobs and make sure Wisconsin is open for business, Governor Scott Walker approved $7.16 million to improve the US 151/County Road V intersection in Fond du Lac County. Work will begin Monday, February 29, 2016 and is expected to last until November 2016. A concurrent project beginning last year is taking place at US 151 and County T.

The prime contractor is Mashuda Contractors Inc., Princeton, WI.

Work on US 151 and County V includes:

* Replacing the at-grade US 151 and County V intersection with a partial cloverleaf interchange.

* Constructing a frontage road connecting County V and US 45.

* Constructing a roundabout at the County V and the frontage road intersection and one at each of the interchange ramp terminals.

* Removing the existing “jug handle” ramps at US 45.

* Relocating Prairie Trail from its current location to the north side of the frontage road.

* Common excavation, borrow excavation, base course, asphalt pavement, concrete curb and gutter, sign structures, bridge construction pavement marking and signing.

This project will improve access and safety for motorists, as well as improve facilities for pedestrians/bike travel in the greater Fond du Lac area.

Traffic on US 151 will NOT be detoured. However, there will be traffic impacts associated with this work:

* A minimum of one lane in each direction will be maintained on US 151.

* Beginning March 14, 2016, the southbound US 151 left-turn lane at County V will be permanently closed to traffic.

* Access to Prairie Trail will be maintained throughout the project.

* When the interchange is open, US 45 will be detoured for 30 days to remove the jug handle ramps, work on the US 45 bridge approaches over US 151, and construct the intersection with the new frontage road.

Reinhardt Road was realigned last year in preparation for construction of an interchange at US 151 and County V.

Work on US 151 and County T will continue later this spring. An overpass for County T over US 151 is being constructed. Prairie Trail will be reconstructed in the work zone; however, it will remain open with brief closures. Work will be completed in November 2016.

Motorists are advised to use caution and remain alert when driving through this or any work zone.
