IAM Local Lodge 1947 Member Vote For Contract Extension With Mercury Marine

The Members of the International Association of Machinists in Fond du Lac Sunday voted in favor of extending their contract with Mercury Marine by five years. The current contract would have run for another year and a half, but with the extension the contract now runs through August 28th of 2021. Members of IAM Local Lodge 1947 voted in favor of the extension, which the company says include higher wages, health care initiatives and ratification bonuses. In a statement Mercury President John Pfeifer said,” This agreement and extension of the collective bargaining agreement today allows us to look forward to a bright future ahead for Mercury Marine.” He added, “We are committed to our employees, customers and our community, and this agreement allows us to be the best partner for all our stakeholders.” The Union also issued a statement. IAM representative Benito Elizondo said, “While rebuilding the relationship between our members at IAM Local Lodge 1947 and Mercury Marine is an ongoing process, I believe ratification of this extension is a first step in the right direction… The new agreement is good for our members, Mercury Marine and the community.” Mercury Marine employs 2,800 people at its global headquarters in Fond du Lac and over 5,200 worldwide.
