Infant Murder Suspect Bound Over For Trial

The 29-year-old Bellwood, Illinois man suspected of killing his girlfriend’s 14-month-old baby boy has been bound over for trial in Fond du Lac County Court. Probable cause was found for a trial during a preliminary hearing for Daniel Antwon Griffin Thursday. Griffin is facing 1st degree reckless homicide and child abuse causing great bodily harm charges for the July 7th incident at the Maplewood Commons Apartments in Fond du Lac, which led to the baby’s death and serious injuries to his twin brother. Griffin allegedly stood on the baby’s chest and caused other injuries to the infant’s twin brother.  The baby’s 24-year-old mother, Airrealle Smart is also facing charges. Griffin is being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on a $1 million cash bond.
