Information Needed On Dog Shooting

Winnebago County Sheriff’s officials are looking for a person who shot a dog in the area of 8775 Fox Lane in Omro on March 7th. The 78-year-old man that owns the dog, was walking his two dogs in a farm field. They were running about 100 yards away from him when he heard a gunshot. One of his dogs returned. He found the dog named Antone with a gunshot wound to the head, which was instantly fatal. The 5 to 6-year-old blue heeler and shepherd mix had been shot with a rifle round. He was in a hay field directly east of County Road K about 800 to 1,000 yards off the road, in an area not visible from the roadway. The man had permission to be on the property.
