It’s “Snowplow Driver Appreciation Day” in Wisconsin

Governor Tony Evers has declared today Snowplow Driver
Appreciation Day in Wisconsin, to thank those who work long hours in tough
winter weather conditions to help keep our roads safe. Snowplow drivers are
critical to the safe operation of more than 115,000 miles of state and local
roads, and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation contracts with all 72
county highway departments for winter maintenance on state roads.

The DOT says drivers can “thank” snowplow drivers in the
state by staying safe on the road this winter. Experts recommend staying at
least 200 feet behind a working snowplow, and remind drivers to make sure that
they can see the plow’s mirrors to ensure the driver can see you. Drivers are also
reminded to pass a snowplow with care, and remember that road conditions in
front of the plow will likely be worse than they are behind it.
