Judge Denies Motion To Give Guns Back To Man Who Tried To Shoot FDL Police Officer

The 43-year-old Fond du Lac man who set fire to his foreclosed home and got into a standoff with police on a bitterly cold day in December of 2013 won’t be getting his guns back. Fond du Lac County Judge Richard Nuss Friday denied the motion saying the guns taken from Shannon Rogler were contraband. In June of 2015 Rogler was sentenced to 40 years in prison and 27 years of extended supervision Fond du Lac Police Officer Erik Foster was shot at that day at the Elms Mobile Home Park on South Main Street. Rogler later told investigators he didn’t shoot the officer because he might be someone’s father. Fortunately no one was injured.
