Kati Kindschuh Named FDL County Fairest Of The Fair
The first day of the 2017 Fond du Lac County Fair kicked off with warm weather, livestock shows, free admission, food, rides, games and the crowning of the 2017 Fond du Lac County Fairest of the Fair. Celebrating 50 years of the Fairest program, the committee decided to move the finals portion of the program back to the first day of the fair and held the ceremony in the Expo Building. Twenty-two past Fairest of the Fair winners were in the audience as judges named Kati Kindschuh, Brownsville, the 50th Fond du Lac County Fairest of the Fair. Rachel Bock of Malone was named first runner-up and Diane Meister of Campbellsport was second runner-up. Other contestants included Madison Supple of Fond du Lac and Amanda Hollander of Brandon.
Kindschuh is the 21 year old daughter David and Dianne Kindschuh of Brownsville. She is a Junior at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls where she is involved in Dairy Club, Sigma Alpha, Block and Bridle and Collegiate Farm Bureau. She has served as a Wisconsin State FFA Officer and as the Wisconsin Holstein Princess and is a past 4-H and Lomira FFA member. Kindschuh is currently employed at her family farm, Sterling Stock Farms and as a freelance journalist for the Wisconsin State Farmer.
Five contestants were vying for the position of Fairest of the Fair and have been working through the process since early June. They had to submit an application, participate in on-air media interviews, interview with a three judge panel, and answer impromptu questions in front of an audience at the finals. They were also asked to help distribute marketing materials for the Fair and collect sponsorships for the program. Kindschuh will represent the Fond du Lac County Fair for the next year and will represent the county in the Wisconsin State Fairest of the Fair competition in January.
Horicon Bank of Fond du Lac sponsored scholarships for the winner, $750 and first and second runners-up, $250 and $100 respectively, while Holiday Automotive provided a vehicle for the winner to drive during the Fair. Many other generous sponsors contributed to making the program a success.
