Kaul Running For State Attorney Generals Seat

A former Fond du Lac resident is running for a state office his mother once held. Josh Kaul is the son of former State Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager. He grew up in the Fond du Lac and Oshkosh area. He is a Democrat and former Federal prosecutor who hopes to challenge Republican incumbent Brad Schimel in the fall of 2018. Kaul grew up in a family devoted to public service. Both his grandparents were teachers. His father is a former Neenah Police Officer and his mother a former AG and State Representative. Kaul feels the Attorney General’s Office is broken. He says the back log of untested rape kits numbers into the thousands. There is also a growing DNA backlog. Kaul feels there is too much partisan politics in the officer right now. He thinks it has been far too interested in serving powerful special interests and playing politics, rather than focusing on protecting Wisconsin families. He would also like to see the AG’s office play a better role in enforcing environmental laws and in protecting Wisconsin consumers.
