Three Tripped Up On Alcohol Compliance Checks In FDL

Fond du Lac Police Officer Erik Foster says he is encouraged with the results of the compliance check they recently ran for those who sell alcohol in the city. Foster says they checked 20 establishments and only 3 sold to someone under the age of 21. He says the checks are not done to catch people selling to underage drinkers. He says he would like to see 100 percent compliance. Recently Foster ran some training for those who sell alcohol. He says most of it had to do with checking IDs. He says those who get tripped up on the compliance checks just aren’t checking IDs or are doing the math wrong. He says the IDs carry information on when a person will turn 21.

A New Fashion For The Gun Deer Season Blaze Pink

The woods will be more colorful this gun-deer season thanks to a change in state law. DNR Chief Conservation Warden Todd Schaller says in addition to blaze orange, hunters can also wear blaze or fluorescent pint. He says it is on store shelves now, or at least he had been told. He says he hasn’t seen it himself, but it is another option for hunters. He says there was some thought that the pink color would draw more women into the sport. The color is also associated with fundraising efforts for cancer research.

Moraine Park Shoe Box Effort An Overwhelming Success

Moraine Park Technical College is doing something for our military men and women deployed overseas this holiday season. Moraine Park President Bonnie Baerwald says they gathered small gifts to fit into Shoe Boxes to send to military personnel overseas. A similar effort last year led to 35 filled shoe boxes. This year they wanted to fill up 50 shoe boxes. She says they were overwhelmed by the response. On November 9th they pooled their resources and were able to create 140 boxes. Baerwald thanks anyone who was able to help out with donations. She says it speaks volumes about the generosity of the community.

Wizard Family Night At CMFDL

You might say it will be a magical evening at the Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac tonight. The theme for their monthly family night is Wizard Family Night. Marta Knodle is the education manager for the museum. She says Harry Potter fans will feel right at home from 4 to 7 p.m. She says they will do everything from house sorting to wand making. There will a potions class and a chance to try some butter beer. Museum Executive Director Andrea Welsch says while it is fun for the kids, it is also educational. She says it is like hiding the veggies in the food kids eat. The Lakeside Evening Kiwanis are sponsoring Wizard Family Night.
