Former Fox Lake Correctional Nurse Accused Of Sexual Assault
A former Fox Lake Correctional nurse is suspected of having inappropriate contact with an inmate. Forty-four-year-old Jennifer Stehling of Fox Lake is charged in Dodge County court with two felony counts of 2nd Degree Sexual Assault by Corrections Staff and Delivering Illegal Articles to an Inmate. She allegedly committed the offenses last January while she was still working at the prison. Her sexual relationship was with a 30-year-old inmate. Her initial court appearance on the charges is scheduled for October 10th.
Stabbing Suspect Pleads To Lesser Charge In Washington County Court
The Washington County migrant worker charged with stabbing a co-worker has pled guilty to a reduced charge. This week 38-year-old Roberto Castillo-Noyola pled guilty to Battery Causing Great Bodily Harm. He was originally charged with attempted 1st degree intentional homicide and 1st degree recklessly endangering safety. Investigators say he believed the other man had stolen beer and money from him when he grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the man multiple times. The incident happened in August of last year. Castillo-Noyola is scheduled to be sentenced December 7th.
Highway 45 Ramps To Highway 151 Permanently Closing Tonight
Tonight at eight the Highway 45 ramps to Highway 151 in Fond du Lac will be permanently closed. The new Highway 151/ County Highway V interchange ramps will open and the former at-grade intersection at Highway 151/County Highway V will close. County Highway Commissioner Tom Janke says the new interchange will be partially open as work continues on the new County Highway V alignment. A frontage road is being constructed from Highway 45 to the new Highway 151/ County Highway V interchange. He says that to complete the work the Highway 45 ramps to Highway 151 had to be closed and will stay permanently closed. He says the frontage road is about two-thirds complete. Signed detours will be in place while the new frontage road is completed. Work on the new Highway 151/ County Highway V interchange should be completed by December.
FDL City Council Approves Post Retirement Benefit For Group Of Non Represented Employees
The Fond du Lac City Council this week approved funding a payout of $990,000 to a group of employees for a year of post-retirement health insurance benefits. City Manager Joe Moore previously informed the Council that the 84 non-represented employees were owed the benefit. He told the Council the City could pay for it through their fund balance. He says they have an unrestricted fund balance that can dip into. It is based on $15,000 per employee. Councilwoman Kay Miller felt that amount should be more per employee, but Moore said the cost to the City for a year’s health care insurance per employee averaged out to a little over $14,900. Miller voted against the resolution, but it passed by a 6 to 1 vote.
Democrats Hope To Win Back 18th State Senate Seat
The State Senate minority leader feels Democrats have a good chance of taking back the 18th State Senate seat. Senator Rick Gudex, a Republican, decided not to run for reelection. State Senate Minority Leader Jennifer Shilling feels Winnebago County Executive Mark Harris will win the seat. She says he is the kind of leader the 18th State Senate District needs being thoughtful and pragmatic. She says as a county executive he has a history of being able to balance budgets. She says currently Winnebago County has its lowest tax rate in the past ten years. Harris faces Republican Dan Feyen of Fond du Lac in the November 8th election. Shilling made her comments during a stop in Fond du Lac.
Community Invited To Tackle Hunger During North Fondy Homecoming Game
The Horace Mann High School Student Council is inviting the community to help them tackle hunger during tonight’s homecoming football game in North Fond du Lac. They will be accepting donations of canned goods or non-perishable items for local food pantries. North Fond du Lac Schools Superintendent Aaron Sadoff says by donating you also will get tickets for a cash drawing. Three winners will win $500, $300, and $200. At 4 p.m. there is the homecoming parade. From 5 to 7 p.m. there will be a tailgate party at the Oriole Athletic Complex with music, food, boneless wings, fries, burgers and brats. At 7 p.m. there is the homecoming gave between the North Fond du Lac Orioles and Howard’s Grove Tigers.
New Hours For FDL PL Chapter 52 Store
The Fond du Lac Public Library’s used-books-and-more Chapter 52 Bookstore will have new hours starting Saturday. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays they will be open from 2-6 p.m. On Saturdays they are open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition, the shop will continue its popular Senior Citizen Sale every Wednesday with half off all books for shoppers age 55 and older (excludes adult coloring books). On Saturday, October 15th they will have half off all craft and holiday books. On Saturday, October 29th the will have half off all teen and children’s books, and half off kids’ DVDs and CDs.
