Bewley Says BadgerCare Extension Would Help Those With Drug Addiction Issues
The
Assistant State Senate Minority Leader says efforts to help those with opioid
and methamphetamine addiction issues would be aided by an expansion of
BadgerCare. Recently the State Assembly passed nine bills related to drug abuse
and addiction. Senator Janet Bewley says many of the services and extension of
BadgerCare would pay for would help with addiction issues. She says frequently
behavioral health addiction services are paid for by BadgerCare. She says the
problem is health care providers won’t be interested in providing those
services if Medicaid doesn’t give them a good reimbursement rate. Bewley says
when it comes to drug addiction we have to use every resource we can.
Trump
to Visit

(WRN) President Trump will

Burning Leaves In Your Yard Not Legal
Fond
du Lac Fire Division Chief Troy Haase reminds residents it is illegal to burn
the leaves they are raking up in their yards. He says you can not burn leaves,
grass, and sticks that you rake up.
He
says even if you have a fire pit in your yard, you can’t rake up leaves and
simply burn them in the fire pit. He says you could end up starting a fire
because embers from the fire could ignite a blaze especially if grass is dry. He says you can’t burn unless you have a
permit and there are a lot of conditions that come with getting one.
Sentencing for Anthony Kudek This
Afternoon
A 28-year-old Kewaskum man found
guilty of providing access to the drugs that killed a 21-year-old
Bend
last May is scheduled to be sentenced this afternoon in Washington County
Court. A jury found Anthony J. Kudek guilty of First Degree Reckless Homicide
in the death of Kimberly Landon in February. The jury also found Kudek
guilty of Felony Bail Jumping. He was out on bond for an unrelated drug case
when he reportedly took Landon to
killed her. Kudek faces more than 45 years in prison
The
annual Oshkosh Job Fair will return to the
in
Thursday, May 16th. More than 70 employers from across northeast
registered to be part of the annual job fair. The Oshkosh Job Fair will open to
military Veterans only from 1-1:30 pm and then welcomes the general public
between 1:30-6 pm. The job fair represents an opportunity for employers from
across the region to meet potential employees at all levels of education,
experience and interest.
“How
to Speak Midwestern” at FDL Library Tonight
Edward McClelland, author of the book “How to Speak Midwestern”
will speak at the
Public Library tonight. McClelland is a native of
and says the idea for the book started from a website article on the so-called
northern cities vowel shift and grew from there. He says the idea came to write
a whole book about the histories of the accents and to include a glossary of
distinctly Midwestern terms. McClelland says the state of Wisconsin is unique
in that it is a crossroads between the three Midwestern accents, the
North-Central, the Midland and the Inland-North and where they appear in the
state is on account of settlement patterns.
The program is free and will begin at 6:30 this evening at the library.
McClelland will also be signing and selling copies of his book at the event.
The
