Flags
at Half-Staff for Gudex

Governor Walker has ordered flags across the state to fly at
half-staff today in honor of State Senator Rick Gudex of Fond du Lac. Authorities say Gudex died of a
self-inflicted gunshot wound early Wednesday morning in the Town of Eden. In a
statement released over the weekend, the Gudex family thanked those who
have shown their support since the senator’s death, and revealed that Gudex
suffered from “an overwhelming depression and hopelessness that he kept to
himself.” The family added that Gudex loved his family and “cared deeply for
the people of his district”. The public is invited to attend Funeral services
for Gudex that will be held at 2pm this afternoon at Shepherd of the Hills
Catholic Church in Eden.
Visitation will be held beginning at 10am until the time of the service at the
church.

Town
of Theresa Hit
& Run

The
Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded to a hit and run accident involving a
car versus a bicycle in the Town of Theresa
Friday night. Authorities say 25 year old Kyle J. Dais of Fond du Lac was
riding north on Highway 175 on his bike when he was hit by a car that continued
driving north without stopping to check for injuries or report the crash. His bike
was equipped with proper front and rear lights. Vehicle parts located at the
scene are believed to be from a 1999-2001 Buick Century with damage to the
passenger side. The car should be missing the passenger side mirror and have
other damage consistent with hitting a person on a bike. Authorities are asking
for any information about vehicles that match the description. Dais was taken
to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The incident
remains under investigation.

FDL Leaf
Collection Starts Today

The
City of Fond du Lac’s
annual leaf collection begins today. Crews will begin collecting leaves in the
southeast section of the city and will proceed in a clockwise direction – to
the southwest, northwest and northeast section. Public Works crews  are expected to complete around three sweeps
through the city this fall, weather and time permitting. Leaf collection will
continue for approximately seven weeks, ending on Friday, December 2nd.
The City reminds residents that leaves should be raked in rows next to the curb
for collection and that leaves should not be placed in plastic bags or in your
automated garbage collection carts. Once again this year, a map will be
available on the City’s website to track the progress collection crews have
made. Go to www.fdl.wi.gov and click on
“Leaf Collection Progress Map” under “Important Notices”.

City of Fond du Lac
Water Utility begins city-wide water main flushing today. Flushing
begins today on the northeast side of the city, then move to the southeast
section on Tuesday and Wednesday, the southwest section of the city on Thursday
and finish in the northwest section next Friday. Flushing
operations will run from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm daily. The Water Utility says

laundry or using automatic ice machines until the water runs clear, and should
not run water while crews are flushing on their street.
