High Speed Chase in
Two people were arrested following a high speed chase through
portions of
According to the
Department, deputies were called just after 5:30 pm to assist Ripon Police in
pursuit of a vehicle that they had tried to pull over on a traffic stop. That
chase was ended by deputies. Later, a deputy in the area saw a car traveling 91
miles per hour on
that was found to be the same car from the earlier pursuit. Deputies pursued
the car for 14 miles and also used a tire deflation device. The chase ended at
County Highway TC and State Highway 26 when a deputy used his squad car to
force the suspect off the road. A 23 year old Waupun man was the driver,
he fled on foot but was later apprehended. He faces multiple charges, including
fleeing an officer, recklessly endangering safety, operating after revocation
and possession of THC. The passenger, an 18 year old female from
was also taken into custody on an outstanding warrant. The Wisconsin State
Patrol assisted at the scene and will be investigating the crash.
The
will be updated on the Lakeside Park Master Plan Wednesday night. Public Works
Director Jordan Skiff says Excel Engineering has been working on the plan. He
says they have gotten quite a bit of feedback from the public, service
organizations, and the Advisory Park Board and it has generally been well
received. He says there are still a few issues to be worked out and they are
hoping to get some guidance from Council members on that. The meeting is

Pleased With New Role As Captain Of Operations
says he is enjoying his new role as Captain of Operations. Captain Rick Olig
retired from the department in August and Waldschmidt, who was the Assistant Jail
Administrator, succeeded him. Waldschmidt spent 16 years on patrol and the last
two years as the Assistant Jail Administrator. He says that was a good learning
opportunity for him. He says it allowed him to learn about the operation of the
jail and the administration of the jail. But Waldschmidt says he was also
pleased with the change in roles. Waldschmidt also completed the
last year.

The holiday shopping season has begun, and a
keep you safe during the season. Officer Erik Foster says one of the important
things to do this time of the year when it gets dark early is to pick your
parking spot wisely. Foster says to look for a well-lit area to prevent a crime
of opportunity. People who commit crimes don’t like to be seen and if you are
visible, it deters people who may want to commit a crime. Foster also says you
should never leave your car running when you go into a store. What you think
may be a five minute trip inside the store can turn into 15 minutes or longer
because of long lines. Then your car gets stolen because it was easy for the
burglars to do.
