Arrest In Sheboygan Falls Toddlers Death

A Sheboygan Falls woman is in custody after the death of her 2-year-old son on Thursday. Police chief Steven Riffel says that they’re still in the preliminary stages of the investigation, but they are treating it as a homicide. He says, “Based upon our interviews with people including the suspect, we believe we know what has happened and that she’s responsible for the death.” Police are not identifying the woman, but say she was taken into custody after threatening police with a kitchen knife at the scene.  An autopsy was performed Friday. 

Oshkosh Home Invasion

Oshkosh Police believe suspects involved in a home invasion were looking for drugs. No one was hurt during the incident in the 900 block of Merritt Avenue Thursday night, but a gun was displayed. The two suspects entered a second apartment connected inside the same building. The suspects were two black men who were wearing masks. Waupun Man Injured In Fall From Tree Stand

A 19-year-old Waupun man is in stable condition after falling 20 feet from a tree stand into a ravine off Green Lake County Highway BB late Thursday morning. Sheriff’s officials got a cell phone call from the woods at 11:42 a.m. Several minutes later a Sheriff’s deputy and rescuers arrived at the scene. The man was found at the bottom of the ravine near a creek. A medical helicopter flew him to a local hospital for treatment. Officials say the fall appears to be accidental.

Waupun Man Suspected Of Pointing Gun At Another Driver

A 27-year-old Waupun man suspected of pointing a gun at another driver is facing felony and misdemeanor charges in Dodge County court. Kori Thompson was released on a $1,000 signature bond after making his initial court appearance this week. According to the criminal complaint he flashed a gun at a driver in the Town of Lomira who flipped him off for tailgating.  Thompson’s preliminary hearing is September 22.

Habitat Looking At First Manufactured Home Project

The executive director for Habitat for Humanity of Fond du Lac County says if things work out they will do their first manufactured home in the City of Fond du Lac this fall. Tom Wilhelms says they need to get a variance to do the project first. He says Flood Homes has agreed to partner with them for their first manufactured home. He says it will greatly benefit everyone involved. Wilhelms says if they do the manufactured home project it will likely happen in October. This morning Habitat will hold a dedication ceremony at 471 West Division Street for the 27th home they’ve built. It’s a 10 a.m. ceremony and the public is welcome.

Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight The Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Should Have Gotten

One of the more memorable moments during last week’s EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh was the Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight that took Vietnam Veterans to the Nation’s Capitol. They toured veterans’ memorials and monuments and flew back all in one day. Dick Knapinski of EAA says Vietnam Veterans didn’t get much of homecoming when they originally returned from the war, but this was the homecoming they were entitled to. Tom Scherg of Fond du Lac was one of those veterans who made the flight.
